post-Derby post.

Two of the best things about the Derby have absolutely nothing to do with horses.

1. Mint juleps (for which you must have julep cups. seriously. But not necessarily Early Times.)

2. Hats. I've had an obsession with hats since an early age.

My mother's family is from Louisville, which could explain it. I often think I was born in the wrong era, and the fact that ladies don't have more occasion to wear hats these days (without looking ridiculous) is a travesty. (Men too, for that matter.) Although they're truly not for everyone.
