Cake Tuesday: in a swirl.

It was another balmy weekend in the Bay Area - even late in the evenings, San Francisco was full of bare legs and cute dresses. This wedding reception, at the elegant City Club, was formal but very festive, and the cake followed suit:

The fondant made it more formal, the apple-green sugar banding and chocolate swirls made it more fun. The mixed shapes added visual interest, too, with a square base and cylindrical top. (I wanted to put Liam's beluga whale on top, but he wasn't willing to part with it.)
