Cake Tuesday: blue and brown.

First of all, if you're in town, please come see Food Fight at the Santa Cruz Film Festival tonight. It'll be really interesting, and there's a reception afterwards with lots of local foods and drinks.

The cake I'm sharing this week is a lovely blue and brown design from a wedding at Asilomar in Pacific Grove. The invitations, created by the incredibly talented girls at A Day in May, were a stunning shimmery robin's egg blue paper, wrapped with a heavy brown matte band embossed with Asilomar's pine cone logo.

The cake was created to match this simplicity and elegance, and it's hard to see but the pine cone logo was even "embossed" with chocolate, alternating left and right on the tiers. The cake was fairly formal, but the topper reflected the fun side of the couple:

They wanted to include ALL of their pets, and sent me pictures to work with. Super cute.
