the remodel: reuse, recycle.

Remember when I showed you the random tiles at the salvage yard that we planned to make into a wall?

Here's the wall:

I'm so, so happy with how it turned out. I was leaning towards this dark grey grout, but our architect/designer guy happened to stop by when we were looking at samples, and he told us to go with red. Red would have been very cool, and would have been more edgy and artistic. So I said yes, but was secretly panicking a little, thinking that I'm not really all that edgy and did I want to wake up to these random RED LINES every single day. We got a call around an hour later from our tile guy, who said the red grout was a special order item and would take weeks to get in, which would have held up the stove install, which would have held up the blahdeeblah and whatever let's just go with the grey. So now of course I wonder if it would have been better with red. But I still love it. If anyone wants me to go to the salvage yard to help make tile puzzles for them just ASK. It was super fun and is RIDICULOUSLY cheap.
