Cake Tuesday: sugar.

L.A. was really great - but that's an entry for another day. I made it home just in time for last weekend's wonderful weddings, and then relaxed with some friends and some bloody marys with bacon-infused vodka. I wrote about habanero-infused tequila awhile ago, which is awesome and everyone who has tried it has become instantly addicted. Bacon-infused vodka may sound a little less appealing, but trust me, the smoky goodness makes the best bloody mary imaginable. But enough about alcohol - I've been dying to show you this cake.

Simple and dramatic, with a single show-stopping element:

The olive green tiers were surrounded with orange beading, and orange and yellow stylized butterflies were scattered on the tiers. But the topper.

The topper was spun out of sugar, and was inspired by Dale Chihuly and his breathtaking glasswork.

The couple were so sweet - they loved the cake samples so much they didn't want to have to choose, so they ordered all of them, giving their guests lots of flavors to enjoy. (I'm constantly pinching myself - I'm SO lucky to work with such nice, nice people!)

At some point before the week's out I'll tell you about some less nice people, 2 great (but disturbing) movies, 23 books, and Things To Avoid Doing at Gas Stations.
