Cake Tuesday: Succulent (no pun intended).
In addition to creating local wildflowers out of sugar for my clients, I'm sometimes asked to include some of the succulents that are so prevalent in our area:

I don't know what these are called, but the tinge of pink is so pretty.

And these remind me of braided garlic or bread (of course, because everything relates to food, no?).

I make them out of marzipan rather than gumpaste, because it has a softer, more organic look. The wedding was in a location that was surrounded with lush plantings, and the bride placed beautiful succulents on every table for guests to take home.
