Cake Tuesday: gathering.
First of all, the weather is making me only want to think about ice cream cake.
Or maybe just ice cream.
Or ice.
(Fortunately by this weekend it's supposed to be 20-30 degrees cooler; unfortunately, they're also predicting rain.)
This cake I just did was very clean and elegant - four tiers of ivory fondant with wide edible ivory ribbons gathered about the tiers, dusted with pearl to make them shimmer.

We placed the couple's monogram on the base tier, and surrounded it with orchids to keep everything monochromatic. The rest of the room was black and ivory, with these spectacular beaded black chandaliers. It was an amazing evening in San Francisco - not too cold and no fog at all, providing a perfect setting for the wedding.
