Cake Tuesday: black and white.
The world might not be, but cakes? Absolutely. It's a very dramatic contrast, and one well-suited to formal, evening weddings.
These squares have a traditional look but the contrasting patterns make them much more interesting.

And this one you've seen if you've perused the website, but it's one of my favorites, and I haven't seen black on a wedding dress since. Duplicating the design in sugar was challenging but really fun.

Even the rick-rack asymmetrical banding worked out beautifully in the asymmetrical tiers. Sadly, the wonderful Theo's restaurant, where this wedding was held, has just closed. (But its former chef, Nicci Tripp, can be found happily creating new and equally delicious menus at Vida so go try it.)
I've got a couple more black-and-whites coming up soon (one with edible sheet music!), so I'll be sure to post a sequel.
