Cake Tuesday: simplicity.
Sometimes the most simple cakes are the most striking. This wedding, held at a private ranch in Big Sur, was a completely understated, beautiful affair. Every detail was a perfect balance of rustic and elegant, and the cake was just clean buttercream layers with sugar flowers matching the table arrangements. The surprise was in the flavors - bittersweet chocolate with espresso, Meyer lemon with apricot and lemon curd, and red velvet with mascarpone/cream cheese.

Afterwards we went for a drink at Nepenthe, where we met up with the fabulous florists and ceremony musicians and got to hear firsthand about the fires the locals had been dealing with for months.
