Cake Tuesday: blue and white.

I know I go on and on about my clients. But still. Yet another bride took the time to send me a thank you AND photos before her honeymoon!! It's so great to know how much they loved the cake, and so fun seeing parts of the wedding I wouldn't otherwise see. I'm not sure who her photographer is (except for the solo cake photo, obviously), but please send a comment/link and I'll happily credit!

You probably know from visiting my website that I'm a fan of blue and white. Bridal blue and white for the company stuff, and pretty much any blue and white anywhere else. I've got lots of Chinese porcelain, and my office is painted a really rich blue with white trim (and I just realized I'm sitting here in navy pants, navy and white shoes, white tank and navy and white floral jacket - eek.)

Anyway, midnight blue, way deeper than navy, makes an incredible contrast with white, and the bride used it throughout the wedding.

The save-the-dates had a beautiful floral pattern in midnight against a white background. The stylized leaves and flowers made a great place to start.

She was gorgeous in white layers, and her bridesmaids' dresses were the perfect shade.

Each tier was banded with an edible satin ribbon, and piped with flowers and leaves from the save-the-dates. Classic and still playful:

And here's a shot of the couple cutting the cake. My favorite detail? See the silk square with the banding on the table?

There was one on every reception table, and the bride is making them into a quilt - I love the idea of turning a design element into a cherished heirloom.
