the new and the old.
Things are definitely progressing at the house. The lower kitchen cabinets went in late last week, along with the sink so that the countertop guys could measure everything correctly.

Making the inset drawers was apparently a huge pain, but they match the existing built-ins perfectly. Now come the hardware decisions. Over the past months we've found some super-cool architectural salvage sites that carry antique hinges and handles and such. My favorite is probably this one; we've picked up some really beautiful old stuff from them and they have very nice reproductions if there aren't quite enough of the old to fit your needs.
And remember the blue insulation photo of the bedroom closet wall? Now it's closets! Again with the old doors - I hunted to find four (almost) matching sizes from Urban Ore; now I have to strip them (I started on the far left door, working until I couldn't move my arms anymore. This might take a while.).

We lined the back walls inside with cedar - now the whole room smells like my gerbils' cage from when I was ten.

Up next: kitchen counters and upper cabinets. With a side of plaster repair and mural layouts (yes, after a number of murals for friends and family, I'm finally going to try one of my very own - take a wild guess as to which citrus fruit it might entail...).
