The remodel, part kazillion.
So we were supposed to be back in the house on November 1, but that is not going to happen. (I know, all you people who said never believe the contractor's dates, you were RIGHT.) But things are happening.
First, the insulation is in. We opted for recycled blue jeans - cotton is warmer and more quiet, it removes toxins and carcinogens that would have existed with fiberglass, and it's really soft and blue. Who needs walls?

Then the kitchen window, which was leaning towards becoming a Major Problem, was delayed for a week, then damaged in shipping, then returned and installed a week after THAT. But it's in and it's wonderful. The pictures from my dinky camera don't show how cool the restoration glass is, but you can read about it here. And the fact that it's made with recycled glass makes it even better.

The whole addition is wired and ready for stucco, and it's become really clear what a great job our designer did in matching the new piece with the existing house. Here's the house in 1926, before the street was even paved:

Neighbors keep stopping by to tell us that it looks like it should always have been this way - the house was meant to be just like this.

Someday we may actually get to live in it.
