bleah.
I am in the blackest mood imaginable. I endlessly refresh my favorite sites, peevish that there's nothing new to entertain me. I open the refrigerator and stare at the near-empty shelves (I haven't had time to shop since I've been home), wishing that lovely, fully-prepared meals would magically appear. I look at Maggie's Life List and realize that I've only done 24 of those things and wonder if I'll ever get to the ice hotel. And would I even like it anyway? It's been a few years since I went snowboarding, many more than that since I've been snow camping. My fingers turn white from Raynaud's. I attend a friend's 40th birthday dinner and realize that we're all actually nearing our mid-life crises. How far have we come, really, from the throes of teenage angst?
I did, however, buy a tiny greenhouse and started the first 49 seedlings for the garden.

And the L.A show was really fun - thank you to everyone who showed up! One of my favorite vendors makes these simple, gorgeous, hemp-silk blend dresses. Her website is nice, but touching the gowns, feeling the substantial fabric, handling the delicate, handworked flowers, is so much more impressive. We used up more of our Meyer lemons for our luscious little samples:
And Friday night after the show we met some friends at Lucques for dinner, and saw Cat Power at the Wiltern afterward. It's one of the most beautiful venues for shows of all time - a perfect Art Deco landmark that of course was nearly destroyed in the 70s, saved from the wrecking ball at the last minute by a few people with a little foresight and taste.
My in-laws are coming to town (which has nothing to do with my malaise, honestly! Hi guys! Can't wait to see you!). When we got together last March, we had a great time, enjoying our spring weather and playing on various beaches and playgrounds.

Really, how can anybody be cranky with skies like this?
