When you're on a budget.

I know the most important elements of a wedding vary wildly, depending on individual preference. For me, food and photography were the two things on which we absolutely couldn't skimp. Food because yes, it might be Your Day, but ultimately it's your responsibility to honor all those friends and relatives who have made the effort to be a part of it with a nice party. And photography because I knew no matter how badly I wanted to remember each moment, the day would pass at warp speed and my memory isn't that great. Having a talented eye capture those moments for future perusal was critical. But that's just me.

No matter what your budget is, here's what not to think: "Hm, your cake (that we told you was the best tasting cake we've ever eaten) seems really expensive. I know organic ingredients are expensive, so can you maybe use regular ingredients and lower the cost?"

Here's what you might think instead: "Do we really need four. hundred. people. at our wedding?"

Just consider it.
