Cake Tuesday: ranunculus

First of all (and I know I've said this before), I think a wedding is a wedding, and ANY two consenting adults who have seriously considered the permanency of this commitment (and aren't just into it for the party or the presents) should be allowed to be MARRIED.

So these two adorable girls decided to tie the knot, and I was lucky enough to be selected as their baker. Their colors were deep raspberry and an olive-y sort of green, and they both wore beautiful white dresses. I love making sugar flowers, and created these ranunculus(es? i?) to cluster on the tiers.

The cake itself was as simple as the setting, a deep ivory with the green banding and sugar flowers. Done. (Inside was a little more complicated - organic carrot with fresh grated ginger, bittersweet chocolate and my grandmother's red velvet!)

Rebecca Hutchins was the photographer, and captured the whole day. You can see highlights on her website here - loving and lovely and exactly right. (Scroll down to Ingrid and Allyson.)
